Información sobre la enfermedad por coronavirus (COVID-19)

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus

.Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment.  Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.

The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching your face. The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).

The most common symptoms:

Fever

dry cough

Exhaustion

Less common symptoms:

Pains and aches

Sore throat

Diarrhea

conjunctivitis

a headache

Loss of the sense of taste or smell

A rash or change in the color of the fingers or toes

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19:

Wash your hands often. Use soap and water or an alcohol solution to sterilize your hands.

Keep a safe distance from anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

Wear a muzzle when physical distancing is not possible.

Do not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth.

Make sure to cover your nose and mouth with your elbow or tissue when coughing or sneezing.

Stay home if you feel sick.

Seek medical attention if you have a fever, cough, and trouble breathing.

You should contact your health care provider before you go to them so that they can quickly direct you to the appropriate care facility. This helps protect you and prevent the spread of viruses and other diseases.

Masks can help prevent transmission of the virus from the person wearing the muzzle to others. However, masks alone do not protect against infection with Covid-19, but also physical distancing and hand hygiene must be observed. Follow the directions provided by your local health authorities.

Self-care

If you feel sick, rest, drink plenty of fluids and eat nutritious food. Stay in a separate room from the rest of the family, and use a separate bathroom if possible. Take care to clean and sanitize frequently touched surfaces

.Everyone should practice a healthy lifestyle at home. Maintain a healthy diet, stay active, and socialize with your loved ones over the phone or the Internet. Children need more love and attention from adults in troubled times. Whenever possible, stick to a daily routine and regular appointments.

Feeling sad, anxious, or overwhelmed is normal during a crisis. It may help to talk to people you trust, such as friends and family. But if you feel like it is too much, contact a health professional or counselor.

We wish everyone safety
